Kelsey Family - Henry's Beach - Santa Barbara 2.3.2011

02 • 03 • 11

Last week I spent some time back home in Santa Barbara - my favorite place in the world! I visited longtime friends and got a chance to take these wonderful pics of people who mean so much to me. I scored a great week where the days were sunny and warm - I took long walks on trails and the beaches and ate at my favorite restaurants and tried fantastic new ones.

Thanks Kelsey and Morgan for hanging out on the beach with me!

Father and Son - Corey and Frankie.

Great dad and a beautiful smart boy with a fantastic personality. I love this shoot - the bad boy look - not bad at all. What I see an enormous amount of love and friendship for one another.

Katia & Zoya Twin Sisters - Miami

05 • 17 • 09

I escaped to Miami last week to absorb some sunshine, visit friends and take some pictures. While there, I really wanted to photograph my girlfriend's twin daughters - they are stunning. We planned to take the girls out to a sand bar in the ocean, which is a shallow area of water low enough to stand. There it would be possible to have the girls go under the water making it easier for me to dunk under for the shots. Well our planned change. A friend's boat that took us out there had mechanical failure leaving us temporarily stuck in the middle of the ocean. So instead, we shot on the boat - soon after I got deathly sea sick. after laying down a bit and still not feeling better, we all jumped in the ocean hoping for underwater shots. Wow that was tough - not for the girls but definitely for me. I was exhausted trying to focus and frame an image underwater while holding my breath etc....
Zoya and Katia are very close and I really wanted to capture that bond. Anyway, I had a great time and am thrilled with the pics. Hope you enjoy them!!

Editorial Portraits in Brooklyn

04 • 03 • 09

Walking around Brooklyn allows a photographer fun and spontaneous shots whether shooting still life, people in their environment or portraits with amazing backdrops and textures. These are just a few of the shots taken by walking around the neighborhood and finding wall art, posters and painted walls. Get out your camera and take a walk. Never know what may inspire.

This was painted on garage doors

Posters of Lou Reed. Jeff's look works well with this shot

sometimes finding furniture on a sidewalk or street can add to the shot

Love this shot - it's so timeless could have been taken anytime within the last 60 years
